Terms of Service
Effective April 20, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Right Byte, a meal-planning web application operated by Right Byte(“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you’re using Right Byte on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
2. Your account
- You’re responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account.
- Notify us immediately at support@rightbyte.net of any unauthorized use.
- One person may not maintain multiple free-tier accounts to circumvent usage limits.
- You may delete your account at any time from your account settings; deletion is permanent.
3. The service
Right Byte helps families plan meals around dietary needs (allergies, medical conditions, preferences). Some features use AI (Anthropic Claude) to generate recipes, shopping lists, and nutrition estimates.
AI-generated content disclaimer
Recipes, ingredient classifications, restriction explanations, and nutrition estimates are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or wrong. Always verify ingredients and preparation steps for safety, especially when cooking for people with serious allergies or medical conditions. We are not responsible for harm resulting from reliance on AI-generated content. See the Health & Allergen Disclaimer for details.
Service availability
We try to keep the service available but make no guarantee of uptime, performance, or uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice.
4. Subscriptions and billing
- The free tier is provided at no cost, subject to usage limits described on the pricing page.
- Paid subscriptions (“Plus”) are billed via Stripe in advance, monthly or annually, at the price stated at checkout.
- Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled before the renewal date.
- You can cancel anytime from Account → Billing; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds for unused time.
- Free trials, if offered, automatically convert to paid subscriptions unless canceled before the trial ends.
- Pricing may change with at least 30 days’ notice; existing subscribers keep their current price for the remainder of the prepaid period.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service in violation of any law or regulation.
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or paywalls (e.g. scripting, multiple accounts, sharing credentials).
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code or model weights.
- Submit content you don’t have the right to submit, including content that infringes copyright, contains malware, or is intended to harm others.
- Use the service to generate content that violates Anthropic’s usage policies, including disallowed dietary advice for medical conditions you’ve misrepresented.
- Use the service in any way that could disable, overburden, or impair it (denial-of-service, scraping at high rates, etc.).
Violation may result in suspension or termination of your account without refund.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit (family member names, dietary notes, custom recipes, etc.). By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, process, and display it solely to operate the service for you.
You may export your data or request deletion at any time. Deleted content is removed from active systems within 30 days; backups are purged on a rolling schedule per our retention policy.
7. Intellectual property
The Right Byte service, including its design, code, brand assets, and the curated restriction library content authored by us, are owned by Right Byte and protected by copyright and other laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the service for personal household meal-planning purposes.
8. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, secure, or that AI-generated content will be accurate or suitable for your needs.
Right Byte is not a healthcare provider and does not provide medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Information shown in the app is educational and informational only. See the Health & Allergen Disclaimer for a longer treatment.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Right Byte, its affiliates, or its agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or use, arising out of or in connection with the service.
Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50.
Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limitations; in those jurisdictions, the limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Right Byte from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising from your use of the service or violation of these Terms.
11. Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these Terms, misuse of the service, or extended inactivity, with or without notice. Sections 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes take effect 30 days after we post the updated Terms or notify registered users (whichever is later). Continued use after the effective date means you accept the changes.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Right Byte maintains its principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts located in that jurisdiction.
